The disk-shaped, alumina-supported membrane has bimetallic clusters of a platinum-cobalt catalyst loaded inside the zeolite channels. CH4 flows on one side of the membrane (the feed side) and H2 on the other side (the sweep side). The higher hydrocarbons are produced continuously on the H2 sweep side
