The synthesis of phenyl boronic acid by a Grignard-type synthesis was performed at 25%-higher yield, while allowing one to favourably operate at room temperature instead of the formerly used cryogenic temperature (-45°C). In addition, the yield of the crude product was increased by about 10%, decreasing the impurity level stemming from the consecutive di- and tri-substituted products. As a consequence, the distillation step was not needed anymore, but either simple extraction or simple crystallization turned out to give sufficient pure final product. This omitted investments for the distillation equipment. In addition, the respective energy costs and those needed for cooling down the reaction step vanished, resulting in overall decreased energy costs
