Three research groups recently obtained atomic-level X-ray crystallographic structures of the ribosome s two major subunits, called the 30S and 50S units ( C&EN, Aug. 14, page 9 ). These groups are a Yale University team led by professors of molecular biophysics, biochemistry, and chemistry Thomas A. Steitz and Peter B. Moore
