- Public Citizen confronted Co. last
week over a 1999 study, claiming that
the Co. has been sitting on unfavo
rable results. The challenge is one
of the first stemming from postings
on newly launched clinical trial
websites.
Co. acknowledges that patients
taking drug in trial involving 425
patients - performed to assess the
drug as a treatment for Alzheimer
s Disease - suffered heart attacks
at nearly 4 times the rate of pa
tients taking placebos.
The Co. counters, however that in
formation on the study has been
public since 2000.

still prescribing & dispensing the
drug
- Kaiser Permanente says it will
stop dispensing drug, pending fur
ther evaluation
