- Placing an aq.; liquid contg ferric-ferrous oxides & dissol ved ferrous ions, into a magnetic field to magnetically filter said oxides from aq liquid - Obtaining known aliquot vol sample of filtered liquid - Adding said sample to known vol of spectrophotometric reagent soln - Mixing sample & reagent soln to form ferrous ion/reagent complex soln - Generating a standard ferrous ion/reagent complex absorp tion curve at predetermined wavelength for standards contg known amounts of ferrous ion & reagent - Measuring spectrophotometrically absorption of ferrous ion/reagent soln at predetermined wavelength - Calculating amount of ferrous ion present by comparing absorption of ferrous ion/reagent complex soln of fifth & sixth steps - Repeating above seq to determine actual corrosion rate |
