Method of operating a high-T reactor for treat heterogeneous waste materials including industrial, special & domestic wastes, in which the waste materials are separately & simultaneously thermally pre-treated & compressed & introduced into reactor via an intake point, & form beneath said point a loose, piled gasification bed, in which the comp. are subjected by O to a fusion or gasification & homogenisation, & above the intake point the gaseous gasification prodts are subject to high-T treat. with supplied O to form & stabilize SYNTHESIS GAS, characterized in that water-cooled O lances are used for high-T treat., at least 2 O lances being disposed beneath intake point to reinforce the flow direction of the fusing & melted-down waste materials, & > 2 O lances being disposed above intake point to inhibit the flow of the ascending gaseous
