Method of mfg Na carbonate decahydrate from liquors contg Na bicarbonate derived from the dissolution in situ of an underground carbonate ore deposit contg Na bicarbonate values - Contacting ore deposit with aq soln contg Na carbonate to produce a Na bionate enriched feed brine in which the Na bicarbonate & Na carbonate content is such that cooling of such Na bicarbonate enriched feed brine to precipitate crystals in step (c) would result in the formation of Na bicar bonate or Na sesquicarbonate crystals instead of or in addition to Na carbonate decahydrate crystals - Adjusting the concn of Na bicarbonate in said NaHCO3 enriched brine stream to form a brine stream of such a com pn. that it will not precipitate Na sesquicarbonate or NaH CO3 upon cooling in the subsequent cooling Na carbonate decahydrate crystallization of (c) & will precipitate only Na carbonate decahydrate crystallization of (c) - Cooling brine stream of previous step to precipitate Na carbonate decahydrate crystals, terminating the crysta llization before significant NaHCO3 or Na sesquicarbonate precipitation occurs, & yielding slurry of said crystals in a mother liquor [step (c)] - Separating said Na carbonate decahydrate crystals from mother liquor - Steam stripping mother liquor to convert a portion of NaHCO3 to Na carbonate to yield a carbonate enriched, bicarbonate deplete aq soln - Recycling portion of said soln to form at least part of aq soln which contacts ore deposit |
