Small peptide "ACTIVATION" domain is combined with with a DNA-binding "POLYAMIDE". The collaborative team finds that these synthetic transcription factors are capable of "ACTIVATING" gene transcription in vitro. This is particularly exciting since previous "POLYAMIDE" constructs have been able to "REPRESS" gene expression but not activate it. The synthetic polyamides can zero in on most any DNA sequence |
