Foam test for polyols which is sensitive to the presence of high MW polyol tail species in the polyols & which comprises (a) Prepg a one-shot PU foam from - Polyol (100 parts) to be tested - Water (6.5 parts) - Dichloromethane (15 parts) - Blowing catalyst (0.1 parts) which comprises: -- Bis(2-dimethylaminoethyl)ether (70 %) -- Dipropylene glycol (30 %) - Urethane catalyst (0.25 parts) which comprises -- Stannous octoate (97 %) -- 2-Ethylhexanoic acid (3 %) - Polyalkylene oxide-methylsiloxane copolymer surfactant (0.5 parts) - TDI (78 parts (b) After the foam rises & cures, measuring the degree of foam settling & collapse Wherein foam collapse indicates the presence of > 200 ppm of high MW polyol tail in tested polyol, said tail having number av. MW > 100,000 measured by gel permeation chromatography |
