Method comprising cleaning & recycling mixt of - Cleaning solvent contg aromatic solvents (<20%) & remain der aliphatic solvents & having flash point 100-250F & - Treating compn consisting of 2-Et-1,3-hexandiol (0.5-5 pph rel. to solvent compn) - Cleaning mechanical parts with above mixt until mixt under goes reduced visual clarity & attains suspended particle concn > 500 ppm - Clarifying mixt by adding clarifying agenr (0.01-5 pph) & water (0.01-5 pph), thereby providing clarified mixt - Reusing clarified solvent mixt until particle concn again rea ches > 500 ppm - Separating a supernatant solvent mixt layer contg said treated & clarified solvent mixt from a lower layer rich in impurities - Distn supernatant solvent mixt layer - Recycling distilled mixt - Repeating said reusing, clarifying, sepn., & distn steps - Periodically determining residual level of treat. compn in solvent mixt - Adding additional treat compn to solvent mixt after distn step to maintain concn in 0.5-5 pph amount |
