Orchid honor for researcher at Givaudan A recently discovered orchid species, Coryanthes kaiseriana G. Gerlach, has been named after Givaudan scientist Roman Kaiser for his research in the field of orchid scents. Kaiser is director of the company's natural scents research unit. The identification of certain compounds, including (E,Z)-1,3,5-undecatriene in C. kaiseriana, allows the understanding of the biogenesis of the same compound from linolenic acid, the company says, and has stimulated Givaudan's researchers to synthesize related new compounds of importance in perfumery |
