| BUSINESS STRATEGY | In one of his first major acts since becoming president and chief operating officer of Dow Chemical, Andrew N. Liveris last week announced a new organization with three global business units and the appointment of senior vice presidents to lead them. Romeo Kreinberg will lead plastics, including polyolefins, polyethylene terephthalate, engineering plastics, fabricated products, automotive parts, and rubber. Michael R. Gambrell will lead chemicals and intermediates, including organic intermediates, solvents, oxide derivatives, chlor-vinyls, chlorinated organics, propylene oxide, and acrylates. Performance chemicals and thermosets will be headed by Phillip H. Cook and will include polyurethanes, epoxies, specialty and water-soluble polymers, custom and fine chemicals, licensing, and Dow Latex. Kathleen M. Bader, who had been business group president for engineering plastics, fabricated products, polystyrene, and rubber--now in the plastics group--will continue as corporate vice president for quality and excellence. Robert L. Wood, who had been business group president for thermosets and Dow Automotive, last week announced he was leaving the company to pursue other interests |
