TECHNOLOGY | We have identified a series of active, small molecule compounds that selectively inhibit or prevent the production of IgE antibodies. This activity has been observed in a variety of ex-vivo, in-vitro and in-vivo models. In addition to their effect on IgE, these compounds have demonstrated an ability to suppress the antigen-stimulated IL-4 and IL-5 responses with potencies similar to those observed for IgE suppression. The toxicology profile of these compounds shows minimal toxicity, and their non-inhibitory effect on IgG suggests that these compounds are devoid of any general immunosuppressive effects. Our developmental efforts have resulted in an orally active prototype of our current series of compounds for IgE down regulation. |
