PATENT CLAIMS Process for ethylene polymn at low pressure comprising
- Prepg polymn catalyst by (a) Milling analytical grade Mg
chloride in ball mill with 10% by wt. of Et benzoate in inert
atm at room T, for 48 h, up to suppression of the 2.56 A
peak in the X-ray spectrum; (b) Calcining at 600-800C alumi
na of 200-500 square.m/g & 1.3-3.5 cubic.cm/g pore vol.
for 4-8 h.; (c) Mixing thoroughly the activated alumina of (b)
at rates ranging from 15-85% by wt., of the MgCl2 prepd in
(a), the mixing being done in ball mill at room T for > 2 h in
inert atm.; (d) Impregnating support prepd in (c) with 5-7.5
times by wt. of TiCl4 in inert atm & stirring for 2 h at 80C so
as to deposit 1.3-2 % Ti & (e) washing surplus TiCl4 off
with n-hexane at 50C
- Contacting impregnated & washed support with C2H4, to
provide PE which comprises (i) high MW chains having
MW > 1000000 in amount 3.5-6.5% & (ii) lower MW chains
having MW > 100000 in amount 35-55%
Wherein MFI = 0.32-0.1 g/10 min
