ChemCodes Inc. has formed a strategic alliance with VM Discovery Inc. in a deal designed to enhance the Durham-based company's drug discovery capabilities. ChemCodes, which has more than 30 employees, tries to find treatments for diseases or illnesses by identifying chemical compounds that inhibit those problems in the body. The agreement calls for ChemCodes to outsource some of its molecular modeling to VM Discovery, which has predictive models and search engines with access to compound databases. Fremont, Calif.-based VM Discovery also will be able to use ChemCodes' chemists to test out compounds that its research shows might make good drug candidates. |
