Apparatus for solvent-deasphalting a feed stream of asphal tene contg residual oil comprising - Contact member for contact. stream with solvent to form first liquid stream contg DAO (See abbreviation) & some solvent, & second liquid stream contg asphaltene & some solvent - First heat exchanger for heat. first liquid stream to form heated first stream - First processing apparatus for processing heated first stream to produce DAO prodt free of solvent & first vapori zed solvent stream; said processing means including (1) first flash drum that receives said heated first stream & pro duces first solvent stream & stream of DAO & reduced sol vent & (2) first stripper for stripping solvent from said stream of DAO & reduced solvent using an inert gas to form said DAO prodt stream & second vaporized solvent stream contg inert gas - Heater for heating portion of DAO prodt stream to produce stream of heated DAO at T > T of flash drum - Means for directing portion of said stream of heated DAO to first heat exchanger for indirectly heating first liquid stream & producing heat depleted DAO stream - Means for directing some of heat depleted DAO stream to first stripper |
