Stepan acquires U.K. quats line Stepan has acquired the quaternaries business of Pentagon Chemical Specialties. Included in the deal are methyl and benzyl chloride quaternaries, amine oxides, betaines, and ethanolamides--biocides and surfactants for detergents, hard-surface cleaners, and personal care. Pentagon will continue to make the products for Stepan. Pentagon was formed in June through the management buyout of a Workington, England, facility that was part of Dow Chemical's Haltermann custom synthesis unit. |
