Companies have joined to market cyclic butylene terephthalate to the automotive, bus, truck, and rail markets. CBT has a low viscosity when melted; when a catalyst is added, it is polymerized into polybutylene terephthalate. As a result, CBT is touted as being suited for composite applications that normally use thermoset resins. According to the companies, they are targeting body panels, truck boxes, tailgates, and structural composites. |
