A subsidiary of the Biocon India Group, Clinigene International has been established in August 2000 to conduct longitudinal clinical studies in select disease segments. The objective is to create clinical data bases in a manner that will dovetail with the data mining capabilities of the Group’s informatics initiative, in order to identify new biomarkers as well as other genotypic and phenotypic disease indicators. It is hoped that these will eventually result in proprietary diagnostics and therapies. Clinigene works closely with specialised clinics in its pursuit for new medical wisdom, ensuring that its studies conform to a high standard of bioethics. Clinigene has initiated clinical studies in Diabetes in which it collaborates closely with a Californian Biotech company. These studies are expected to extend to other disease segments over the coming years, more notably, Asthma, Lipidemia, and Arthritis. Clinigene also has the capability to conduct drug-related bio studies, pharmacogenomics based clinical studies as well as other specialised longitudinal studies on select patient populations. |
