Method for recovering bitumen from oil sand comprising - Dry mining oil sand from a deposit at a mine site - Mixing the oil sand near the site with water to produce a high d., low T slurry contg bitumen, sand, water & entrained air, the slurry having a d. 1.4-1.65 & T 20-35C - Pumping the slurry through a pipeline to primary sepn vessel - Introducing slurry from pipeline into vessel & temporarily retaining it therein so that separate layers of bitumen froth, middlings & sand tailings are formed - Separately removing bitumen froth, middlings & sand tailings from the vessel |
