A major difference between the swedish techniques and target-guided assembly approaches developed by other groups is the type of reaction used to combine the building blocks. The swedish group uses a triazine-amine condensation reaction to form products. FINN SAYS THE swedish group's paper "extends the in situ world to another reaction and nicely highlights the anti-idiotypic concept." However, he points out that the static polymer molds used in the anti-idiotypic approach "do not allow the target to transmit information about its dynamic behavior to the inhibitor," as do direct molding and other techniques in which biological targets act as guides.
