Mfg method - Providing keratin contg material having disulfide linkages - Partial oxidizing keratin with first oxidant, such that some disulfide links are converted to cysteic acid & some remain intact - Reducing keratin with reducing agent such that remaining disulfide links are reduced to cysteine & cysteine-thioglyco llate disulfide groups - Oxidizing keratin with second oxidant such that reduced cysteine groups are oxidized to reform disulfide links, wherein the reformed disulfide links are not the same exis ting in original keratin material Such that said hydrogel is bound together by said reformed disulfide links & has cysteic acid hydrophilic groups |
