Method for reducing 4-CBA in TPA production or 3-CBA in isophthalic acid production comprising - Dissolving crude TPA (or crude IPA) in solvent at 50-250C to form soln - Crystallizing purified acid from soln by reducing the T &/or pressure - Separating said crystallized purified TPA from soln - Adding an oxidant to CBA oxidizer to oxidize said filtered soln in (previous step) causing 4-CBA (or 3-CBA) to con vert to TPA (or IPA) - Evaporating solvent from soln - Cooling concentrated soln to crystallize additional purified TPA & filtering said slurry - Recycling major portion of mother liquor from previous step to dissolver in first step & minor portion of mother liquor from previous step to a purge stream |
