A group of scientists in Boston discovered a technique to create live teeth in laboratory. The discovery represents a potential dental revolution. The scientists already cultured a great quantity of tooth`s crowns. They hope that, with refinement of process, the technique may be used to create greater & more complexe teeth. The teeth are surprisingly faithful versions of natural teeth. This is the first time that someone obtains a so complex dental structure from individual cells. The results, are part of new & more ambitious vision of dental science. The critics affirm that odontology concentrated in applying mechanical solutions to biological problems. The teeth created in lab. are a signal that sector is getting out of isolation to adopt new & powerful tools being used in biomedical research. It should pass at least 10 years, before the technique may be used to help patients. But if the technology give good results, the biological replacement of teeth may be healthier than teeth reconstruction with present techniques, because the biological process results in teeth that reproduce exactly all natural functions of teeth. Natural teeth can move slowly in mouth, when there is pressure in excess at one point, & there is also the belief that they secrete proteins that maintains neighboring tissue in healthy condition |
