TRIPHOSGENE may have a role in evaluating the use of PHOSGENE in a synthesis. Co. showed off $10 cartridges contg 1, 2, or 5 g of triphosgene mixed with a encapsulated proprietary INITIATOR.
The user connects a cartridge to a small round-bottom flask with tubing & heats the cartridge at 80 – 110C in a oil bath. The encapsulation melts, & the initiator mediates smooth, zero-order decomposition over one hour.
Co.’s representatives also showed off what they call “the coffee machine” – a $10,000 generator of up to 600 g of phosgene/hour from triphosgene under computer control
