Carbohydrate-related study. Vaccines have generally contained only individual l antigens. But researchers developed a advanced synthetic method for com bining multiple carbohydrate antigens in the same molecule. In the technique, carbohydrate-based antigen domains are linked to amino acids, & amino acid coupling reactions are then used to form a combined vaccine. The work could lead to a new generation of antipathogen & anticancer vaccines. Researchers synthesized the first single molecules displaying multiple carbohydrate antigens last year, but the approach reported this year is more sophisticated & versatile |
