At the time when I was in the business, all of major competitors had pH > 12. Our prodt has pH near 5. When we had a 3rd party test the competition in a setup that sprayed water on a surface, sprayed the prodt on a surface, allowed the surface to dry, & repeated the steps, all of the competitive prodts etched the tile & glass. The etched tile formed peaks of pigment protruding from the etched surface. The etched glass was covered with microcracks. We never tested to see if the glass no longer behaved as tempered, but I would be concerned that it would no longer have the same strength & the same breaking characteristics At the time I expected to see users of the other prodts complain about the damage that the competitive prodts were doing to these surfaces; however I never heard of any complaints. I think that consumers never related the change in the surface of their glass & tile to the damage caused by the other prodts
