Researchers obtained for the 1st time EMBRYONIC STEM CELLS using non-fertilized (spermatozoid-free) oocyte (ovum); from which complex tissues like cardiac & neuron cells were produced. According to Co.’s Pres., the cells were highly developed that they could be used therapeutically, for degenerative diseases. If technique would work also with HUMAN cells, it would be possible to deve lop tissues for transplant in the laboratory without destroying embryos, one of the ethical complications of therapeutic cloning. The advantage is that embryos in present study were obtained from non-ferti lized ovum induced to divide by chemical solution – process known as PAR THENOGENESIS.
