| METHOD | The process uses emulsion crystallization of microdroplets of BINOL or hydroxybenzoin in a carrier that contains N-Me & N-Et pyrrolidone & surfactants. The user seeds the emulsion with crystals of single isomer BINOL or hydroxybenzoin, & crystals of the inclusion compd of that isomer with the pyrrolidones separate out. Thus the process only resolves racemates whose inclusion compds with pyrrolidones are conglomerates & not solid solns. |
