Apparatus for the gas-phase polymn of olefin, comprising a reactor having vertical side wall, a fluidization grid located in reactor & defining a fluidized bed region in said reactor above said grid, said side wall having height H above grid, a conduit for external circulation of reaction gas mixt connecting a top of reactor to base of reactor below grid, said conduit including a compressor & at least one heat exchanger, at least one withdrawal conduit for withdrawing polymer from reactor having an isolation valve & at least one emptying conduit for emptying polymer from reactor having an isolation valve, said withdrawal & emptying conduits connecting side wall to single recovery gas lock having a discharge valve, wherein said withdrawal conduit leaves the side wall at level of side wall, above grid, of 0.6-0.95 x H while being directed downwards, with every part of withdrawal conduit forming with a horizontal plane an angle A of 35-90 degrees & said emptying conduit leaves side wall at level of side wall, above grid of 0.01-0.2 x H, said level where the emptying conduit leaves the side wall of reactor being located below its point of entry into recover gas lock
