Granules comprising 95-99.8 wt. % of magnetic Fe oxide-contg compd & 0.2-5% of binder, wherein magnetic Fe oxide-contg compd has an Fe content of 50-73% wherein the granules have the following properties: a lightness under brightening L* of 40-79 CIELAB units, color cast a* of -1.0 to 4.0 CIELAB units, color cast b* of 0.0 to -7.0 CIELAB units, an av. particle size of 30-250 micro.m, & a residue of < 2% in a flow properties test having a 1 mm sieve & 400 strokes & wherein the binder comprises compd selected from: polysiloxanes, polyesters, polyalc., long-chain fatty acids having > 10 C, fatty acid esters having > 10 C, organometallic compds & PVA
