Fiber comprising polymer matrix comp in which particle scattering colorant particles are dispersed, wherein said particles comprise metallic conductor selected from Au, Pt, Cu, Al, Pb, Pd, Ag, Rh, osmium, iridium; the particle scattering colorant particles have an av. diam. in the smallest dimension < 0.02 microns; the polymer matrix comp. is non-absorbing in the visible region of spectrum; & the colorant has a minimum in the transmitted light intensity ratio in the 400-700 nm range that is shifted > 10 nm compared with that obtained for the same metallic conductor having av. size > 20 microns
