ting skin thus treated with an intensity sufficient to locally convert the light energy into heat energy in the applied compn., said applied compn & the thickness thereof having an absorbance at the emission wavelength of the laser such that the light energy transmitted into the skin generates no undesired irreversible tissue or cell damage, said laser-irradiating effecting tissue ablation of the surface of said treated skin, & wherein said method further comprises overcoating said chromophore compn with a film-forming compn which does not absorb light at the wavelength of the laser
