OBSERVATION'S |
In 1997 regulators detected unsafe levels of perchlorate in groundwater in Southern California. Medical studies indicate that perchlorate, a key ingredient in rocket fuels & explosives, interferes with thyroid normaL functioning. Hence, the State of California imposed a limit of 18 ppb. However, because no commercial technology existed to remove perchlorate, communities whose wells exceeded the limit were forced to shut down the wells & purchase water from other municipalities |
