A process for prepg F-contg compds (Fluorobenzaldehyde & Fluorobenzonitriles) which comprises reacting a compd contg > one halogen atom which can be replaced by F with a fluoride of formula - KAT.F where KAT is an alkali metal ion, NH4 ion, an alkaline earth metal ion or ABCDN; where A-D are, independently of one another, identical or different & are each 1-12C straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl, 4-8C cycloalkyl, 6-12C aryl or 7-12C aralkyl, in the presence of mixt of compds - Amidophosphonium salt of formula [(EF)N][(GH)N][(IJ)N][(KL)N]P cation . M anion; where E-L are independently of one another, identical or different & are each 1-12C straight-chain or branched alkyl or alkenyl 4-8C cycloalkyl, 6-12C aryl, 7-12C aralkyl, or EF, GH, IJ, KL are, independently of one another, identical or different & are bound to one another either directly or via O or N-R to form a ring having 3-7 ring atoms & R = 1-4C alkyl & M is monovalent acid anion or the equiv. of a polyvalent acid anion & - Compd selected from (IVa) X-NO2; (IVb) X-SO-X'; where X,X' are 6-18C aryl, 5-18C aryloxy or arylthio, 7-12C aralkyl or R'R''R'''C; where R',R'',R''' = 1-12C alkyl or alkenyl; 4-8C cycloalkyl in the presence or absence of solvent at 40-260C |
