A method for formulating a surfactant compn having a predetermined solubilization parameter of oil & water & wherein the compn consists - First alkyl (odd 9-13C) polyglycoside surfactant - Second alkyl (12-18C) polyglycoside surfactant - Third alkyl (8-12C) ethoxylated alc contg 2.5-8 EO comprising the steps - (a) Determining the concn of the 3 surfactants which will pro vide the predetermined solubilization parameter in selected oil/water system by mixing a known vol of oil together with known vol of soln of surfactant compn & one of water or brine, measuring the vol of type III microemulsion occupying a vol previously occupied by the oil & measuring the vol of said microemulsion previously occupied by the water or brine in surfactant soln - (b) Varying the concn of the 3 surfactants resp., in the soln & repeating (a) until the predetermined solubilization parame ter value is provided in a range of concn of the 3 surfactant which forms Type III microemulsion |
