Combining - Proprietary Carbohydrate Synthesis technology (Co. 1) - Pharma. mfg capabilities (Co. No. 2) |
STATUS | In development |
TECHNOLOGY |
Co. No. 1's (Australia) technology is solid-phase synthesis. The Co. has developed specific protection & deprotection tactics for each of the 5 OH or NH2 group positions on a pyranose. In particular, the Co. has developed a deriv. of dimedone that can bind to & protect an NH2 group &/or link a sugar molecule to a resin. The dimedone is cleavable with hydrazine The "Clostridium difficile"'s toxin (causative of said collitis) binds to a - Trisaccharide of galactose & N-acetylglucosamine [Gal( alpha1 - 3)Gal(beta1 - 4)GlcNAc] By making large amounts of the trisaccharide & adding it to intravenous feeding soln., the trisaccharide may bind to toxin molecules locally, preventing them from binding to cells |
