Method for the treat of wastewater, suspected of being contaminated with perchlorates, nitrates, hydrolysates & other energetic materials, - Providing at least one microaerobic reactor contg a mixed bacterial culture capable of reducing perchlorate, nitrate hydrolysates & other energetic prodts - Feeding contaminated wastewater into the microaerobic reactor - Maintaining a microaerobic environment in the microaero bic reactor by at least one method selected from: (i) mixing air & n gas & sparging or purging the reactor with the gas mixt; (ii) using a N membrane separator to provide a low O contg N gas to the reactor for sparging or purging; (iii) adding air to the reactor for sparging or purging as necessa ry to maintain a target dissolved O concn or target O concn in head space gas present in the reactor; & (iv) adding &/or maintaining oxygenated ions &/or oxygenated molecules - Maintaining suitable nutrient & environmental conditions in the reactor so as to cause decontamination of the wastewater |
