gene having (i) an inducible transcriptional regulatory re
gion, (ii) a first DNA seq encoding AAT & (iii) second DNA
seq encoding signal protein, where said second DNA seq
is operably linked to (i) & (ii), & where said signal protein
is in translation-frame with said AAT & is effective to facilita
te secretion of expressed AAT from the transformed cells
- Cultivating the transformed cells under conditions effective
to induce the promoter, thereby to promote expression of
AAT & secretion of the protein from the transformed cells
- Isolating AAT produced by the cells
