A thermal waterless printing plate suitable for near IR laser imaging & comprising: (i) support substrate, & (ii) composite top layer consisting of: (a) Near IR absorbing adhesion promoting layer applied to support & (b) Near IR absorbing ink repelling cross-linked silicone polymer layer wherein (a) comprises inherent near IR absorbing polymers exhibiting strong absorption at 780-1200 nm, said polymers capable of forming covalent bonds with the (b), said polymers having the structure - -[-T-]a-[-A-]b- - a & b molar ratios = 0.1-0.9 - T = near IR transparent repeat unit: -HNCO2-[C(Me)2]2-O- -CONH- - A = near IR absorbing repeat segment (formula given) |
