Process for insolubilizing & consolidating in pellet form the spent linings from Hall-Heroult electrolysis cells for the production of Al, comprising grinding spent linings made up of C prodts & aluminosilicate prodts impregnated with fluoride & cyanide alkaline compds., mixing the resultant ground linings in an intimate manner with pulverulent refractory additives before heat treat or firing, wherein the additives comprise - First additive: Aluminosilicate - Second additive: CaO & Ca salts - Agglomerating the said mixt into pellet form - Firing at 700-950C |
