Process for removing 1-Cl-3,3,3-tri-F propene (R-1233zd) (impurity) from R-245fa by photochlorination
- Contacting mixt consisting of predetermined amount of
R-245fa & < 20,000 wt ppm R-1233zd with 1-5 mol of chlorine
for each mol of R-1233zd in presence of UV light of 300-400
bnm wavelength providing exposure > 0.02 watt-hour/kg of
mixt, said photochlorination effective to reduce concn of
R-1233zd to < 100 ppm by converting R-1233zd to tri-Cl-tri-F
propane (R-233) in > 96%
- Separating R-233 from R-245fa
