MECHANISM OF ACTION |
Researchers observed that when bacteria hides in lungs, occurs a change of its metabolism, feeding itself from fatty acids instead of carbohydrates. Without this change, the infection wouldn't progride. The detailed observation of this metabolism conducted to the discovery of enzyme called "ICL", which may be the key in curing the disease. The scientists developed a "tubercu losis bacteria mutant" not possessing the gene that produces ICL. In experiments with rats, using the modified bacteria, the immunological system was able to kill the bacteria |
