Mfg process - In an aq reaction medium, brominating phenol with bromine under conditions forming an aq HBr acid phase & an orga nic phase consisting of molten 2,4,6-tribromophenol (I) - Sepn the said aq phase & molten (I) from each other - Mixing an alkali metal base & water with portion of (I) - to form alkali metal salt of tribromophenol - in a mixt consisting of water & at least one liquid ketone, reacting cyanuric chloride with portion of the alkali metal 2,4,6-tribromophenolate such that title prodt is formed |
