PATENT CLAIMS - Continuously feeding into a reactor (i) a soln composed of
40-50% of Al(Me)3 in inert liquid aromatic hydrocarbon, (ii)
an organic carbonyl group-contg compd, & (iii) a catalytic
quantity of water such that a reaction mixt comprising a poly
methylaluminoxane is being produced in said reactor, the
proportions of (i) & (ii) being fed to the reactor being main
tained such that there are 1.4-2.2 moles of Al(Me)3 per mole
of O atoms in said organic CO-contg compd being fed, &
the proportions of (ii) & (iii) being fed to the reactor being
maintained such that there is in the range 0.001-0.1 mole
water/mole of CO-contg compd
- Keeping the T of reaction mixt at < 100C
- Continuously withdrawing reaction mixt from the reactor at
a rate sufficient to enable the continuous feed of (a) into
said reactor to be maintained
