In a process for hydrogenating a nitroaromatic compn by contacting said compn with H in a reactor employing a monolith catalyst, the IMPROVEMENT for effecting continuo us hydrogenation of dinitrotoluene to toluenediamine which comprises - Introducing a feedstock comprised of dinitrotoluene & reaction prodt comp continuously into reactor - Passing the feedstock through the reactor plug flow - Carrying out the hydrogenation of dinitrotoluene to toluene diamine under adiabatic conditions - Continuously removing hydrogenated reaction prodt com prising unreacted dinitrotoluene, water & toluenediamine from the reactor |
