Open circuit method for converting organic waste into an edible biomass, comprising - Collecting said organic waste - Introducing said waste into the vessel of a first reactor without prior sterilization - Decomposing said waste in said reactor's vessel by meso philic or thermophilic anaerobic bacteria for a time sufficient to convert said waste into a liquid effluent contg carbona ceous & nitrogenous compds assimilable by heterotrophic or photoheterotrophic bacteria - Recovering said liquid effluent - Transferring said effluent to vessel of second reactor - Culturing heterotrophic or photoheterotrophic bacteria in the vessel of second reactor whereby an edible biomass is produced by assimilation of the C & N compds present in said effluent by said heterotrophic or photoheterotrophic bacteria - Recovering said edible biomass - Packaging said edible biomass |
