Process for producing Al-Si casting alloy - Heating the alloy to the pouring Tp between liquidus T & 750C - Adding a modifier to the melt, the modifier comprising an ultra disperse powder capable of remaining in a solid state during the process - Overheating the melt to second T, being above a branching T of a visc. or d. T dependency of said melt as obtained at heating from liquidus up to 1100C & subsequent cooling - Maintaining the melt at second T for 20-30 min - Cooling melt down to Tp - Performing at least one of the steps of degassing & fluxing the alloy, & pouring the melt |
