Process for taking a fixed-bed of solid acid catalyst out of use without causing any catalyst deactivation, wherein said catalyst bed is used to catalyze the polymn of olefins in an olefin-contg feedstock - Substituting a modified feedstock for the olefin-contg feed stock without terminating the flow of material through the bed wherein said modified feedstock is prepd by substituting a olefin-free hydrocarbon fluid for at least a portion of said olefin-contg feedstock & wherein said fluid boils within 20 - 250C & contains > 5 vol. % aromatics & - Terminating the flow of said modified feedstock to bed after the contents of bed have been displaced by the modified feedstock & any prodts derived from it, & wherein the amount of olefin-free fluid used to prepare the modified feedstock is effective to prevent any significant deactiva tion of fixed-bed catalyst during said process |
