PATENT CLAIMS |
Process of decontaminating soil contaminated with PCB - Prepg an inoculant by making mixt comprising minor amount of the contaminant that is contaminating the soil along with soil contg anaerobic & aerobic microbes & a highly nutritious heterotrophic medium & storing said mixt at 20-30C for sufficient time for acclimation of said microbes to occur & produce viable anaerobic & aerobic microbes that are unobjectionable in said soil in the concn present - Admixing said soil with organic nutrients for composting said inoculant to form solid compost mixt comprising 1-20% inoculant - Composting said mixt while maintaining T 20-65C & water content 40-100% WHC - During said composting maintaining redox potential level < -200 mV until contaminant is partially degraded - Thereafter oxygenating mixt to raise redox potential level > +100 mV until contaminant is further degraded |
